How To Get An International Driving Permit?

International Driving Permit is an official identity document which allows the user to drive a vehicle in other countries. The IDP is recognized in many countries like USA, Australia, South Africa, Germany, etc.

Indians who have their valid driving licence can apply for International Driving Permit.

Step 1: You have to fill and submit the form CMV 4-A at any RTO. Download form CMV 4-A.

Step 2: You also have to fill and submit the medical form CMV 1 & CMV 1-A along with the application. Download Medical form.

Step 3: Submit 3-5 passport size photographs.

Step 4: Submit a copy of Driving licence, Passport, Air Ticket & valid visa for the country in which you will be driving.

Step 5: Pay the fee of  ₹500/- at cash counter.

Step 6: In 5-7 days, you will get your IDP.

• International Driving Permit is valid for 1 year.
• It can take up to 1 month to get your IDP.
• Carry all the original copies, while submitting the application.
