Vaishno Devi temple is a famous temple situated on the trikuta hills near Katra. The temple is devoted to Goddess Durga, also called as Goddess Vaishnavi. Pilgrims came across this temple to worship the shrine, which is located inside a cave on Trikuta mountains at an altitude of around 5200 ft from the sea level.
People have very strong faith on the Vaishno Devi temple. It is believed that if one wants to attain the main four objectives of human life then one must visit this temple for at least once. And people who don’t believe in God, also must try this yatra or trek to this temple. The journey to this temple won’t disappoint you, as it consists a lot of fun and some heavenly views.

The temple is visited by people from all religion and from every corner of the country. Every year more than 10 million pilgrims visit this temple to show their beliefs towards the place. It is the second most visited pilgrimage destination in India after Tirupati Balaji temple at Tirumala. According to the Hindu rituals, it is said that pilgrims should complete this yatra or trek by bare foot, if they want to get the blessings.

The temple can be visited in any month throughout the year. The temple receives snowfall in winters during the month of December & January.

5:00 AM to 12:00 PM & 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

How to Reach:

By Air:

Jammu houses one civil airport, which is connected to Delhi and Mumbai airports. Helicopter service is also provided by government from Katra directly to the temple.

By Rail:

Jammu Tawi railway station is well connected to all the major cities in India. One can also reach Katra directly by train. A new railway station has been built by government and opened to people from July 2014. The name of this station is Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station.

By Road:

There are several buses going daily to Jammu from various major cities of India. From Jammu, one can board a bus or hire a taxi to reach Katra.
