After completing the Snow craft and Ice craft training, we came back to HMI campus in Darjeeling on 28 April. While coming back we all were quite happy because everyone did good training and the best thing was we all were fit and fine.
Our glacier training at HMI Base Camp was about to start and we were all set to learn all the techniques and perform all the activities that were scheduled.
After reaching the base camp, the ice craft and snow craft training was about to start from the next day. The schedule of the HMI training at the base camp included the 4 days glacier training and a few other activities.
After completing the acclimatization walk, we had to move towards Dzongri on the next day. We were already told by our instructors that the trek is going to be difficult.
Before leaving to Sikkim, we were given time for an outing so that we could buy necessary stuff for the trek. We went to Big Bazaar in Darjeeling to buy chocolates and other eatables.
This blog explains the rock craft training at HMI Darjeeling that I did in the Basic Mountaineering Course. The major part of the Rock Craft training was done at Darjeeling itself and remaining was conducted at the HMI Base Camp.
As per the schedule of HMI, the training was divided into two parts in which the initial 10 days training was to be done at HMI Campus in Darjeeling only and the rest of the training was to be conducted at the HMI Basecamp in West Sikkim.
My mountaineering course at HMI Darjeeling was about to start from 4 April. As it was the first time I was traveling to North East India, I decided to reach 2 days before the reporting date so that I could explore some places in Darjeeling.
